NEW Information Literacy and Skills Training Programme launched

In a nutshell: The WUTH Integrated Library Service launches its 2009-2010 Information Literacy and Skills Training Programme on the 1st April 2009. Our sessions will teach you to find, retrieve and appraise information gathered from an ever-expanding range of health related resources. Used effectively this information can help to change clinical practice, support continuing education and/or research within the organisation.

The following sessions are now available:

*Library Orientation 1: Introduction to the Library (a Virtual Induction is also available)
*Library Orientation 2: Locating books and journals
*Library Orientation 3: Access for users with a disability / special requirements
*Library Orientation 4: Practical library skills for secretaries, PAs and administrative staff

*Searching Skills 1: Developing search techniques
*Searching Skills 2: Finding and evaluating health information on the web
*Searching Skills 3: Keeping up to date with journal contents

*Health Related Resources 1: National Library for Health (NLH)
*Health Related Resources 2: Searching the literature (using NLH databases)
*Health Related Resources 3: Searching the Cochrane Library and other evidence based resources
*Health Related Resources 4: Introduction to Map of Medicine

*Handling Information 1: Introduction to critical appraisal
*Handling Information 2: Managing your references

*Handling Data 1: Statistical mentoring clinics
