In a nutshell: The Integrated Library Service (ILS) helped to create a huge ‘stir’ on Friday 26th September when they raised money for Macmillan Cancer Support as part of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning campaign.
The ILS also launched a brand new collection of books called the ‘Read and Relax Collection,’ which is aimed to encourage recreational reading to all of its library users. Library staff got into the fundraising spirit by dressing in the widely recognised green and white Macmillan colours and set up a stall in the dining area of the Education Centre, Arrowe Park Hospital. The team sold cakes, biscuits, cups of tea and coffee to help raise money for this worthy cause. There was even a raffle and a chance for staff to have a go at winning a shopping spree.
A calendar with selected images from the NHS over the years was designed and produced by library staff. All proceeds from the calendars are to go to Macmillan Cancer Supportand are still available to purchase from the McArdle Library. Everyone that attended was encouraged to take a peek at the new ‘Read and Relax Collection,’ which complimented the coffee morning’s motto of ‘Coffee, Cake and a Cracking Good Read!’ Overall, the ILS raised over £200 for Macmillan Cancer Support, which will help to improve the lives of people living with cancer. The team would like to thank everyone who gave donations on the day.
