John A. Aitken Library modernisation

In a nutshell: Access to the John A. Aitken Library will be unavailable from Tuesday 13th October 2009 due to the modernisation of the library facilities at Wirral Postgraduate Medical Centre. Access will be reviewed at regular intervals.

During this period the following library services are available:

A drop-in library service will be provided in the Leadership and Development Centre at Elm House every Monday and Thursday 12-2 (to be reviewed according to service demand).
You will be able to:
*make enquires
*place and collect inter library loan requests (books and journal articles)
*request and collect Library Membership cards
*use the computers in Elm House when available

You will be able to use the McArdle Library, Arrowe Park Hospital for:
*Computer use (24 hours a day) for Internet, Microsoft Office, Reference Manager, SPSS, PCIS, NVivo, Boardmaker and SCI45
*Borrowing books (9.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m.)
*Printing and photocopying (Free for CCO staff 9.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m.)

The ILS (Integrated Library Service) website provides comprehensive information about the library service at: http://www.whnt.nhs.uk/library. You can use this to:
*Request Literature Searches
*Book onto Training Sessions
*Request and receive Current Awareness Bulletins (LEAF Bulletins)
*Books can be located, reserved and renewed on the library catalogue at: http://www.whnt.nhs.uk/library/heritage

Access NHS Evidence at http://www.evidence.nhs.uk/ for:
*Journals held at John A. Aitken Library with an online subscription
*Full text journal and electronic books collections
*Health related databases i.e. MEDLINE, CINAHL
